We have joined the Norwich Legal Walk.

Access to Justice

Every Legal system needs a to be efficient and fair. Everyone needs access to fair and juridical recompense when thier rights are abused. For everyone to have access to justice, they must be able to understand the legal system, to make their own, informed, decisions on how to proceed. That’s where legal advice comes in.

You cannot have effective access to justice without access to legal advice.

Unaffordable to most

Between increased Court and Tribunal Fees, restrictions on how those providing legal advice can be paid (thus restricting the types of cases they can assist with) and cuts to legal aid, access to justice has become severely limited. In January 2016 Britain’s most senior judge, Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, said that “our justice system has become unaffordable to most.”

It is not the goal to create a litigious society, far from it, rather the goal is to build a society in which people respect each other’s rights and, when those rights are not respected, there be access to reparation. But for the poorest and the most vulnerable people in our community, access to justice is far out of reach.
